Thank you so much. The more I wear the Verites the more Like them. I'll do the things you are suggesting this week. All if possible. I really appreciate your advice. I'm 57 with a teenager still at home, an artist, and very active in all aspects of life. I need to hear as well as possible. One thing hearing loss has taught me is how precious is our ability to listen and learn about others through the gift of hearing. I'll never take my ability to communicate well with others for granted again.

'I hear a lot better in one ear than the other so I'm wondering if the Spacial Sound feature of the Agils would be of much benefit to me in a noisy environment.'

Actually that's not such a huge difference in your loss - it's unlikely to be a major issue.

Two things, get your verites set with no gain below 500hz - that will minimise the effect of background noise levels. 2nd Get your audiolgist to add both a 'Speech in Noise' and a 'Comfort in Noise' from the program configuration screen.

If you had the full personal profile done in the first instance, it may be that the aids are set-up appropriately, but not all audiologists do this.

The Agils are OK - don't be drawn in by the bullshit though. You have a fine pair of instruments that need a fraction of refinement, probably due to your precipitous loss needs.

    Hi Um bongo,

I understand that you fit both Oticon Agils and other Oticon aids and the Bernafon Verites. I've been trying out the Berafon Verites. I'm also interested in trying the Oticon Agil Pros. I hear a lot better in one ear than the other so I'm wondering if the Spacial Sound feature of the Agils would be of much benefit to me in a noisy environment. Could you compare the two aids for me a bit and tell me if you have to good speech comprehension in both ears to do well with the Agils? I'm not very happy with how the Verites are doing for me in noisy situations. Do you have any suggestions for improving the Verites or perhaps another aid I might try?

My speech comprehension is much better in my left ear than in my right. Night and day really.

    Hello,

I'm afraid that's about the best they have offered me despite loads of pressure. It's a dog of an aid.
There might be some light at the end of the tunnel - there's allegedly a new version coming out within the year that addresses some of these issues, they promised me that any existing customer with issues can move directly to the MKII version free.

Failing that, I don't know whether your local jurisdiction has a 'fitness for purpose' portion in it's medical devices/consumer legislation, but it's worth a go. In my mind Resound are in breach of their ISO and CE marking too as they are knowingly still shipping a product with issues.

Get it swapped out as soon as practical and see if you can get a full new warranty on the replacement aid (or even pay for the upto 5yr extension ).

    Regards

    Steve

Hi Steve, I have a "dying" Resound Be9 - its been replaced once and "refurbished" once and now is back to hardly audible yet again AND the mic wire has fractured (constant crackles) for the 3rd time.

I know you have had issues from your posts but also understand you can't publicly discuss this as Resound might "punish" you.....

What have you been able to get Resound to do for your customers with bad Be instruments?
(replacement with same seems pointless as it will only last 5-6 months again and then the end of warranty will be looming!)

    Thanks,

    Steve
