Thread: General advice/suggestions for these audiograms

  1. Default General advice/suggestions for these audiograms

I am helping my parents get hearing aids. I've done a lot of research and feel reasonably informed going into our first fitting. I'm just looking for any hints or suggestions in light of their actual hearing test results below. The only thing I know is that the audiologist spoke to them about Phonak Bolero V's - likely for ease of handling for my father who has some hand impairment - thanks in advance!

Best advice would be to worry more about the person fitting the hearing aids than the hearing aids themselves. And know that's hearing aids are not like eyeglasses. You don't just pop them on and hear normal. It takes a good 1-2 months to adjust to the sounds and even then the hearing will be improved, but never normal like 20/20 vision.

to give you my answer, you mother should need a closed fit with her reverse cookie bite. father could try an open fit 1st. So your mother might wanna try BTE or RICS with closed domes.
