Thread: Loss/Damage Deductible loophole?

  1. Default Loss/Damage Deductible loophole?

    Hello

Suppose that Jhon Doe buys his 2 new hearing aids for $3500 and the seller says him the Loss/Damage Deductible is $1000 for both hearing aids.

So 1 week after the purchase, Jhon Doe can say to the seller he lost his 2 hearing aids and buy 2 new hearing aids for 1000 ?

Maybe Jhon Doe is lying and wanna sell his 2 new hearing aids for 2500 in Amazon.

    This is a loophole?
How does the loss/damage deductible really work?

    Best regards

I never did any lost claim warranty before so what I say here is all just guessing.

I would think that the "supposedly" lost HAs probably won't carry the warranty anymore. If somebody wants to claim warranty service on it, they would probably be denied. The mfg may even accept them in at first but when they're in possession of them, they may confiscate them due to their lost status.

If I were the mfg, I'd even set something up so that when those lost HAs turn up to get reprogrammed, I'd even have some kind of a "black listed" HA list that would render those HAs useless as soon as they get connected to be reprogrammed. Kinda like how cell phone service providers do now by black listing or blocking IMEI for lost/stolen/delinquent cell phones.

Funny, I just saw a pair of Oticon OPN listed on eBay a few days ago for $2500 and it got snatched up real fast. I did ask the Seller about Oticon warranty status on them and never heard back. Next thing I knew it was sold.

They will go on a lost/stolen list and serial numbers will trace that they are not the property of the person who bought them online. No one will program them and there is a good chance the manufacturer will confiscate them if they are ever sent in for repairs.

And folks wonder why AuDs don't want to get involved with eBay aids.. It's even more fun when they come up as issued by the VA, etc.
