Thread: OPN on trial

    Default OPN on trial

Finally got to my audiologist after months of waiting. Am giving the OPN 1 a trial for 2 weeks. So far not bad. The domes are better than my old Acto's but not as nice as the Widex 440's I tried. Sound is pretty decent so far. Wind management not as good as the Widex but that's fine. The iPhone connectivity is fantastic.

aaaand I'm now finding out that they use BLE Bluetooth so no pairing directly with my MacBook Pro.. Ouch.

So far the fit is ok. Battery life is just as good as the Widex. Sound is ok. I need different domes as noisy places like the gym is still too loud to hear streamed media.

You can control the volume of the stream media (via the iPhone up/down volume buttons) separately from the OPN's mic volume (by triple click on the iPhone home button then reduce the Mic volume all the way down to 0 if you want). That way you can totally be isolated from external noise and hear your stream media sound only.

Of course you can have both mic volume and stream volume on at the same time so you can still hear what's going on around you, but judiciously lower the mic volume so it won't overwhelm the stream volume.

When their optional ConnectClip comes out (supposedly in Q1'17 but maybe delayed), you can stream with regular Bluetooth devices via the ConnectClip. It should have a mic built-in to it as well for phone conversations.

connect the tv adapter 3.0 to it, or wait for the conect clip pro if you have a blue tooth dongle.

Yes, that's how I'm using my TV Adapter 3.0 currently, too. I connect it to my laptop's analog audio output headphones plug so I can stream audio from my laptop.

Sideborg - I wear Widex domes with my OPNs. My canal is very small and the Widex domes are much softer and more flexible. Perhaps you can ask to trial the OPNs with different domes?

Am considering it. I did find the Widex domes to be waaaay more comfortable. Though Oticon has definately stepped up the comfort game with these new domes.
