Thread: Just ordered one from Costco

  1. Red face Just ordered one from Costco

I have owned all in the ear from Beltone and oticon but never could get used to them . My ears always felt like they were loaded with cotton or full of water after swimming. I have a high frequency loss from working as a sheet metal worker. My insurance carrier was willingto pay for a United health care aid but i am not comfortable with buying these things online with no one to make adjustment.

SO I went to Costco yesterday. They were wonderful!! Gave me a test naturally, spent a lot of time with me, even prgrammed an instock one to what they think I needed for the high frequency loss. Seemed to work just fine this small behind the ear aid so I bought one. Will be in tuesday for a fitting

Congrats! What did you get? The KS7?

Didn't you have any vent hole in your Beltone or Oticon? That should have helped with the occlusion issue. With high frequency loss, you can probably get by with a good size vent hole in those CICs.

I had the vnts but hated them. Still felt like I had water in my ear. The KS7 felt good

Yeah, with CIC type aids, they can only make 1 hole usually and the hole can only as big as remaining space is allowed but most of the space is taken by the device already. With the KS7, because the HA is outside behind your ear and only the receiver has to be inside the canal, there's a lot more room to vent so the vented dome has a lot more surface area that can be opened up and vented. So for sure RIC (Receiver Inside the Canal) lends itself to much more open venting if desired compared to CIC (Completely Inside the Canal).

Well picked it up yesterday and wore it for 6 hours. Felt fine in fact after a while I forgot i had it in. High frequency loss so that is what is amplified. I did hear a lot of rustling paper but got used to it.

So good i may go back in April and get the other one

I didn't realize that you only bought 1 first. Doesn't that throw you off with the imbalance wearing just one?

Do get a second one. A lot of the best features of benefit require two to work together and communicate with each other to give you the best result. You are less likely to struggle to hear speech with two.

Not at all. I didn't get two because i wasn't sure I would like the one after my experience with other HA's

Did you pickup the second one? I have both and find the combination of both are quite fantastic for me. All of our ears are different, so perhaps one is all you need, but I hope you find that you also like it.
