Thread: Oticon Opn miniRITE Is Now Rechargeable

  1. Default Oticon Opn miniRITE Is Now Rechargeable

Oticon Opn™ miniRITE Is Now Rechargeable!

    Somerset, NJ
    4 April 2017

Two New Opn Styles, Power Options and Tinnitus SoundSupport™ Bring Open Sound Experience to Even More People.

Oticon continues to build on the success of the award-winning Oticon Opn™ to bring the paradigm shifting benefits of the open sound experience to even more people – including those who want the convenience of rechargeable batteries. Oticon Opn™ miniRITE hearing aids will now be available as a rechargeable hearing solution that can be charged overnight for sufficient power to last throughout the day. All Oticon Opn miniRITE hearing aids sold since the introduction last year and going forward can be retrofitted to be rechargeable.

Oticon further expands the Opn family with the introduction of two new Opn styles and the integration of Tinnitus SoundSupport™ and Speech Rescue™ LX into all Opn styles and performance levels. The new small, discreet miniRITE-T and the powerful BTE 13 PP give people with mild to severe-to-profound hearing loss access to Opn’s revolutionary open sound experience. Even more benefits are available to Opn users with the addition of two proven features, Tinnitus SoundSupport™ and Speech Rescue™ LX. The newly added features offer customizable relief sounds for tinnitus suffers and improved clarity and speech understanding for people with high frequency hearing loss.

“The expanded Opn family will enable more people with hearing loss to communicate and stay socially active, with less listening effort and more ability to remember what is being said,” says Donald J. Schum, Ph.D., Vice President for Audiology. “Opn gives users advantages that even the most sophisticated hearing solutions of today can’t deliver – the ability to handle noisy environments with multiple speakers and to connect their hearing aids to the Internet. Add to that the ease and convenience of the Opn miniRITE rechargeable solution and we make Opn a practical and welcome solution for people who also want the convenience of rechargeable batteries.”

    All-day Power

With the easy-to-use charger, Opn miniRITE can now be powered throughout the day by simply placing the hearing aids in the charger overnight. The rechargeable solution give users maximum flexibility to interchange the rechargeable 312 batteries with disposable batteries if the user forgets to recharge the hearing aids overnight. It is estimated that one pair of environmentally friendly rechargeable batteries can save approximately 150-200 disposable batteries per year.

More Styles to Fit More Patients

The sleek and discreet miniRITE-T features a telecoil and double pushbutton for easy volume and program control. The powerful and compact BTE13 PP fits hearing losses up to 105 dB SPL to benefit people with severe-to-profound hearing loss. The plus power solution features a telecoil, a tactile double pushbutton for easy volume and program control and a two-color LED indicator to monitor hearing aid status for both users and caregivers. The fully featured hearing aids include Tinnitus SoundSupport, Speech Rescue LX, DSL, and TwinLink™ with 2.4GHz wireless technology for direct streaming to iPhone® and audio devices.*

    Tinnitus Relief Sounds

Oticon Opn now combines the BrainHearing™ benefits of a balanced and rich sound experience that doesn’t overload the brain and a powerful solution for tinnitus relief. Tinnitus SoundSupport™ allows hearing care professionals to address the needs of people who experience both hearing loss and tinnitus with a wide range of customizable relief sounds including broadband and ocean-like sounds. The Oticon ON App gives users the flexibility to easily adjust relief sounds to meet their individual needs and preferences with just the tap of a finger.

    Open Sound with High-Frequency Audibility

Speech Rescue LX works together with OpenSound Navigator™ and Speech Guard LX to improve clarity and speech understanding for people with high frequency hearing loss. The three-step “copy and keep” methodology rescues speech cues that might otherwise be lost and brings them back into the audible frequency range. Speech Rescue LX then transmits the temporal cues of high-frequency speech and, at the same time, “protects” lower frequency speech sounds to achieve frequency lowering with minimal distortion.

More Styles, More Features, More Opportunity

The Opn miniRite hearing aid is now available as a rechargeable hearing solution. Hearing care professionals can turn any Opn miniRite hearing aid into a rechargeable solution by simply exchanging the battery drawer. The popular miniRITE, new miniRITE-T and powerful BTE 13 PP and newest Tinnitus SoundSupport and Speech Rescue LX features are available in all Opn performance levels.

A new firmware package 4 with the newest features, including Speech Rescue and Tinnitus SoundSupport, will be made available through the Oticon Firmware Updater in Genie 2. The newest firmware package enables hearing care professionals to continue to add improved and new features, as they become available, to Oticon Opn hearing aids regardless of style or performance level.

With the rechargeable miniRITE and more styles and exciting features for adults and teens, Oticon Opn continues to expand the ability of hearing care professionals to open up a world of sound for more people. Thanks - I called and the expected availability is late June 2017 for new or to retrofit existing HAs.

No cost information is yet available to retrofit or for the charging device.

This will fix one of the two downsides with my OPN's (the other is no Android streaming yet).

Is June for the rechargeable aids?

My audiologist said the Power version will be available late April as I am going to try them. But maybe they have changed the date for release. I'll confirm soon once he is back from America as he will have more information about it then.

I wonder if they're adopting the ZPower rechargeable battery system or something similar to that of their own for the rechargeable option here?

Although Oticon hasn't published their rechargeable retrofitting price yet, I wonder if anybody knows how much the Zpower retrofitting system price is? I assume that the Oticon price should be in the neighborhood of the ZPower price.

It's also interesting that with all these new announcements, there's no mention at all about when the long-awaited supposedly-Q1'17-release ConnectClip option is going to be available. I suspect that the silence implies that it's going to be a long delay instead of being imminently available. Very disappointing that they not only not have this option up front, but now even the promised release is going to be delayed by quite a bit, it seems.

    Thanks for sharing. Great link!

So it IS confirmed that the rechargeable option is the ZPower solution. Does anyone know how much they cost as a third party add on?
