Default Any way to use smart phone as remote mic?

This is a general question to include HAs with built in bluetooth or ones that require a device to be near them to allow streaming. Is there any way to use a smart phone as a remote mic with any of these setups? It seems that the phone has all of the necessary technology (mic and transmitting and receiving ability) but I don't think it's possible to set it up that way. Anybody know if it's possible or can explain why it couldn't work? I'm thinking of situations in noise where somebody could place the phone near himself or it could set near a small group of people one was trying to converse with.

It can be done with an iphone on MFi aids. Triple clicking bring up the internal app which can route the iphone's mic to the aids.

Other phone are starting to get BLe suitable for similar use.

If your HAs aren't MFI, you should be able to use any of the free microphone apps.

OK, next question. Has anybody tried it and if so, how well does it work?

Widex Beyond does this. Works just fine, within the range of the bluetooth. I've been as far away as the kitchen from the living room (about 25ft) and have it work.

So you could place your smart phone (Iphone I'm guessing) in the kitchen and hear what a person in the kitchen is saying? Neat.

Correct. I actually did this a few times, for the novelty of it. Haven't really used it since. And the Beyond app has a mixer, I can adjust the relative volume between the stream and the mic.

Neat "parlor trick" although could be useful if somebody is often in a room that requires shouting to communicate or shouting and then walking in earshot. Seems like more useful application would be in a noisy location and place phone near the person or people you want to hear. Thanks!

iphone has an option called 'Live Listen' which can be used if the hearing aids are MFI - It can be found within the settings or a quick triple click on the home button brings it up. Definitely works with the Widex Beyond and from what I understand works with other MFI devices also
