The totally implantable cochlear implant is still ongoing... didn't even reach the fourth spot yet.

S-O-O tired of waiting.
But the rabbit wasn't even in the list of things taking part in the race.

Not quite sure what's going on with all this hidden posting etc but if your Cyborg your lucky you have a CI at all, I see you mentioned you can hear fine on the phone as well? I was tested and i'm 11% out of the guidelines for a CI, i'm totally deaf in my left ear and severely in my right, I can't hear on the phone nor talk in groups or to anyone who's not got a raised voice and 2ft in front of me. I would love to have a CI and be able to hear on the phone and hear my children speak so it comes tiresome when all you do is bang on about the implantable CI when you already have an external one and enjoy the advantages it brings. When/if an implantable one comes out do you think they are just going to call you up and get you to come in for a replacement? I think not.

2. Profound deaf... zero percent invisibilty (large cochlear implant processor behind the ear)

3. Severe deaf... recharge the Envoy Totally Implantable's Battery with a remote (convenient)

3. Profound deaf... change little fiddle batteries out of the c.i. processor (inconvenient)

4. Severe deaf... Swim in the pool with Invisible hearing (Envoy)

4. Profound deaf... zero hearing in the pool. (except with, maybe a bodyworn processor- AB)

5. Severe deaf... they wake up when there's fire at a hotel

5. Profound deaf... snore through it (dangerous)

6. Severe deaf... dance a lot with the Envoy

6. Profound deaf... wear Snugfit so that the bulky ci doesn't fall off

7. Severe deaf... experience freedom with the Envoy Implant

7. Profound deaf... sore ears from balancing the bulky ci processor, stiff neck, tired shoulders, fatigue, headaches, and exhaustation from balancing the bulky c.i. processor 24/7/365

8. Severe deaf... can run in sports with the Envoy Implant

8. Profound deaf... c.i. processor is always falling off when trying to run in sports

9. Severe deaf... clean sound quality with the Envoy Implant

9. Profound deaf... sound quality gets degraded with the ci processor in hot, humid places such as Florida or Arizona

10. Severe deaf...

10. Profound deaf...

...................................the list could go on.

So, there exists a GREAT DEMAND for a completely implantable cochlear implant.
I don't think these people read these boards. I'd sit down and write to the various companies or write an article for a medical journal and make a really impassioned plea there. It's like me as a gun owner looking for a particularly improvement on a gun. I can write about it all over the Internet or I can just sit down and write to the manufacturer - writing to the company itself will yield more results.

I'm going to write to cochlear implant companies official message boards making requests. It's time to drive them crazy (until they actually get it done).

The Hearing Aid Forums audience get a break for now.
Don't hold back - you keep things interesting for me.

This is so cool!. Only if it were "commercially available".. Tired of waiting.. Normal-hearing people basically have a Totally Implantable microphone/ speech processor/ and battery in their healthy hair cells.
Damn! I just had a chin reduction on the 28th last month. I've got to wait six weeks, I think, for my speech to come back and God knows when I'll get the feeling back in the chin. I would HATE to recover from a surgery like this. That looks painful.....

Thank you. Everyone should be as strong as you. I'll try to be more positive...just wish I didn't talk like Gilda Radner's "Barbraw Wa-Wa."
